 So many bright lights, they cast a shadow…
We of the Sunlight Realm are your everyday wolves. We live in packs, hunt for food, defend our territory, and survive through the seasons.
But we’re not alone. You see, we’re tied irreversibly to the parallel Midnight Realm.
The pups don’t quite understand, but they will. When they’re four seasons old, they’re greeted by a Shadow. This Shadow lives in the Midnight Realm and upon its first contact with a Sunlight wolf, they’re tied for life. They’re able to speak to each other through their mind’s eye, and as long as the Sunlight wolf lives, the Shadow will live with it.
The Midnight Realm is much like our own. There’s ground and trees and sky, and, of course, wolves. But it’s different. There’s no prey, less color, less life. The Shadows don’t feel the sun on their fur or the snow against their paws; they don’t taste the blood of the kill or hear the birds singing. All they know of the pleasures of our lives is what they see through our eyes.
